The Happy Hooker*

Bunny_in_the_tree_sml Okay, it's not WeeWonderfuls or anything but this is the bunny that I made for Lowell's Easter basket. I taught myself to crochet not too long ago for two reasons. One, to be able to make a baby blanket for my friend and her new little guy (check). And two, so I could make some loveys for Lowell (and okay, maybe a couple several for myself). This is my second amigurumi attempt and I am pretty happy with the results. Especially the ears, which i came up with on my own. I used self-striping yarn for the outfit part. (It's magic! How does it know?) and the pink stuff is from a big stash I bought from a stoop sale last summer. (I still think about how stupid I was not to buy more, this woman was unloading a lifetime of hoarded yarn and I only bought two ziploc bags full. Argh. Seeing how at the time I could neither knit or crochet I was actually practicing restraint). I used the dude pattern over at Crochet Me, but reduced it a little bit, if anyone's interested. Or still reading. Have I lost you? Did you know i was a closet crafter?

The other night before drifting off to sleep I said the following to my mate in all seriousness: "Man, Lowell had a really solid poop today. I was so happy." I think I might need to get out more.

The posting here is going to get erratic for the next couple weeks since I am actually going to have to start packing for our impending move one of these days. By "erratic" I mean that I'll actually be posting more in order to procrastinate. No, no. I am turning a new leaf. I have a shiny binder and some pretty markers and lots of tape. This is going to be the best move ever!!

*If anyone's looking for a good crochet manual Debbie Stoller (of Bust and Stitch 'N Bitch fame) has this new book out that rocks the crochet house. Stop laughing at me.

LB, I'd never laugh, scoff or mock, because I am now a knitter. I mean, last Sunday I went to the knit store, bought stuff, knitted several rows and am now nursing my throbbing fingertips. Apparently anal retentive knitting makes your fingertips hurt. I love the bunny! Yay for markers and best-laid-plans binders! (Nothing makes me feel like procrastinating more than going to Office Depot and buying packs of glitter pens, fancy paper clips and binders. People like us get so freakin excited for those supplies lists they give kindergartners before their first day of school, don't we?)

you are way too talented. why did I not get ANY creative genes? could I whine a little more?

I like to learn how to knit. My grandmother taught me a basic stitch when I was about six, but I've since forgotten.

Crucial Advice for the move: Pack the shower curtain last, and remember what box you put it in. Or, better yet, don't even pack the shower curtain. Put it in a grocery bag and have it with you as you walk into the new house for the first time. If you don't do this, you will end up in your new house, dirty and sweaty from unpacking, and unable to shower because you have no idea where the shower curtain is. Same goes for the rings that hold the shower curtain.

Disregard this advice if your new shower has doors, or if you can knit a new shower curtain quickly.

That is funny, I whispered the a similar thing to Kara last night..."Boy I really had a solid poop today, I was so happy". But her reaction was about the same..."Ugghhh... I need to get out more often". ;-)

packing - actual packing is going on! thanks for the comments.

Because of you, I want to learn to crochet. As if I didn't have enough to do. Damn you!

Ohio person - that's the best advice! I've moved a bazillion times and NEVER remember that.

It IS good advice. I plan on passing it on to my husband since I no longer take showers.
